Egg White for Burns?

A young man sprinkling his lawn and bushes with pesticides wanted to check the contents of the barrel to see how much pesticide remained in it.  He raised the cover and lit his lighter; the vapors inflamed and engulfed him.  He jumped from his truck, screaming.  His neighbor came out of her house with a dozen eggs, yelling: "bring me some eggs!"  She broke them, separating the whites from the yolks.  The neighbor woman helped her to apply the whites on the young man's face.

When the ambulance arrived and when the EMTs saw the young man, they asked who had done this.  Everyone pointed to the lady in charge.  They congratulated her and said: "You have saved his face."  By the end of the summer, the young man brought the lady a bouquet of roses to thank her.  His face was like a baby's skin.

Keep in mind this treatment of burns which is included in teaching beginner fireman this method.  First aid consists to spraying cold water on the affected area until the heat is reduced and stops burning the layers of skin.  Then, spread egg whites on the affected are.

One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water.  In spite of the pain, she ran cold faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg white from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her hand in the solution.  The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.

She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white.  By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the next day there was hardly a trace of the burn.  10 days later, no trace was left at all and her skin had regained its normal color.  The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.
This information could be helpful to everyone: Please pass it on.

Marriage Workshops For Healthy Marriages-Tune Up For Marriage

www.makingupofbreakup.com I saw a show recently where a happily married couple decided to go to marriage workshops for healthy marriages. Their friends were wondering what was wrong and were worried. After all, we are used to people getting help when their marriage is already on the brink but not when things are going well. The couple were planning on having a baby and thought getting a "tune up" was just a good idea. It was. Turns out that they had a lot of pent up

Dried Rat/Mouse Droppings

A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom in Maui , Hawaii.  When he got back, he was complaining that the storeroom was really filthy and that he had noticed dried mouse/rat droppings in some
areas.!

A couple of days later, he started to feel like he was coming down with a stomach flu, complained of sore joints and headaches, and began to vomit.

He went to bed and never really got up again. Within two days he was severely ill and weak. His blood sugar count was down to 66, and his face and eyeballs were yellow. He was rushed to the emergency at
Pali-Momi, where he was diagnosed to be suffering from massive organ failure. He died shortly before midnight.

No one would have made the connection between his job and his death, had it not been for a doctor who specifically asked if he had been in a warehouse or exposed to dried rat/mouse droppings at anytime. They
said there is a virus (much like the Hanta virus) that lives in dried rat and mouse droppings.

Once dried, these droppings are like dust and can easily be breathed in or ingested if a person does not wear protective gear or fails to wash face and hands thoroughly .

An autopsy was performed on the clerk which verified the doctor's suspicions.

This is why it is extremely important to ALWAYS carefully rinse off the tops of canned sodas or foods, and to wipe off pasta packaging, cereal boxes, and so on. Almost everything you buy in a supermarket was stored in a warehouse at one time or another, and stores themselves often have rodents.

Most of us remember to wash vegetables and fruits but never think of boxes and cans. The ugly truth is, even the most modern, upper-class, super store has rats and mice. And their warehouse most assuredly does!

Whenever you buy any canned soft drink, please make sure that you wash the top with running water and soap or, if that is not available, drink with a straw.

The investigation of soda cans by the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta discovered that the tops of soda cans can be encrusted with dried rat's urine, which is so toxic it can be lethal. Canned drinks and other foodstuffs are stored in warehouses and containers that are usually infested with rodents, and then they get transported to retail outlets without being properly cleaned.

Please forward this message to the people you care about.

Music Therapy for Dementia Patients

Over the last many years
therapists have been using and finding increasingly effective, music therapy for dementia patients. With the ongoing stages of dementia, many seniors find the slow decent into memory loss and the difficulty to perform simple tasks that they are certain were at one time second nature, a frustrating reality to deal with. Family members feel helpless in their ability to keep the one they love from 'slipping away' or from experiencing exasperation, loneliness and depression.
These emotions can then lead to anger and aggression on the part of the dementia sufferer. They don't even completely understand why they are frustrated and angry and this only serves to make matters worse. Family wants to reassure them, encourage them and help them, but loss of memory contributes to feeling fearful, threatened and distrusting of everyone. The spiral can be long and affect so very many people, ruining relationships and the happy equilibrium that keeps a family happy.
Therapists have discovered, however, that we all have a 'music memory' that seems to function well even in spite of a debilitating illness like Alzheimer's or dementia. Seniors suffering from this disease can find a much needed respite with music when it taps this memory and suddenly seems as familiar as the faces around them used to be.
Couple the familiar tunes with words that come flooding back on cue and you'll see the smiles return to the face that has finally found joy again. Some latter stage Alzheimer's and dementia sufferers, that may seem almost catatonic by this stage, have been known to move, tap, hum or in some manner show 'life' when familiar music and songs were played.
Long term care facilities such as nursing homes have experienced success with sing alongs for senior residents. Activity directors and nurses have been delighted to find some dementia patients respond to the music. Therapists have found ways to use music instruments and sing alongs as effective tools to communicate with the elderly that struggle with this.
Where the disease has advanced beyond too much responsiveness from the patients, the familiar music and songs have still proven to give some elderly enjoyment enough that they tap their feet or twitch their fingers to the beat of the music. Those that are able to still sing along have had respite with sing along DVD's and enjoyed group sing alongs in their care facilities.
Although music therapy for dementia patients has been around for many years, it is still in some ways being tested for its effectiveness on various forms and various stages of Alzheimer's and dementia. But even friends and loved ones can use music and song as therapy for their dementia sufferer still at home.

The Coming Explosion of Home Healthcare

As the parents of Baby Boomers enter their golden years, the average age of the population in the US is quickly rising. The statistics show that the senior population will steadily grow over the next few decades, and reach 80 million by the year 2050, as all of the Baby Boomers themselves reach senior status. According to recent data, 82% of people said that they would prefer to stay in their homes as long as possible, much preferred over the other options of hospitalization or living in a retirement community. However, it has become impossible for many working families to provide the adequate care that their elderly loved ones need in the home. This has created remarkable interest and growing demand during the decade in home healthcare for seniors.

Of course, there are many considerations involved with both your patients and also their loved ones when choosing between a nursing home and home health care. These concerns can be based upon the seriousness of the condition, and how much care is needed for the affected individual. But a facility is often not necessary, and in-home care allows these senior citizens to maintain their independence and peace of mind in the comfort of their own home, with less expense, a critical component of reducing the cost of healthcare in this country. Home care also has better patient outcomes and quality of life on average than other options.

As the home healthcare option becomes more mainstream, the number of questions that are popping up within families are also growing. One of the most common myths of home healthcare is if the family is already helping, there's no need for additional care. However, people who are physically or emotionally exhausted or guilt-ridden because of their own shortcomings simply cannot provide the best care. According to the research provided by the Harvard Medical School Family Health Guide, family caregivers should neither expect nor try to be "on-call" 24 hours a day. Every caregiver needs respite and periods of relief.

Another belief is that if the senior can't do their own shopping or housework, they simply shouldn't do these activities anymore. Everyday tasks, like dishes, vacuuming or rearranging the basement or cleaning the garage, can be quite tedious for a senior with arthritis for example. Basics, such as organizing a closet, can be extremely exhausting for a cancer patient. These tasks are never ending and, if they become more difficult during post-op, or due to treatment or age-related conditions, they can take precious time away from patients in an already very busy schedule. But completion of these tasks is necessary for a high quality of life for your patients. When even the most basic daily tasks become overwhelming, or loved ones just need a helping hand, a qualified care provider is the best option to step in and help.

Another myth is that until the senior knows what services they need, they shouldn't consider in-home assistance. But patients don't need to know what care they need up front, that's what qualified homecare professionals are for. Any reputable agency will perform a needs assessment, that will ensure the patient's needs are accounted for and the attending Doctor's Plan of Care is followed. Waiting until needs are quite obvious to all is not usually a recommended path.

Seniors may also be reticent to invite a stranger into their home. Safety is always a legitimate concern for seniors, especially considering the relatively rare but highly sensationalized stories that highlight patient abuse or breaches of trust. From a security standpoint, when you deal with well qualified care staff, from a reputable agency, this can help provide the peace of mind that patients and families need when arranging help in the home setting.

From a medical/patient outcomes standpoint, various studies show that in home care can be safer than the alternatives, and not only because of the one-on-one care. One recent study indicated that about half of infections could be linked directly to hospital care. Another study reported that, given they are seeking the appropriate treatment for their condition, patients with chronic heart disease fare much better at home compared to the hospital. And, ultimately, remaining home can be less stressful because it is familiar, which fosters a sense of comfort and calmness for your patients.

There comes a time for most ailing seniors to decide if they want home care or want to be in a nursing home. When factoring in the many benefits of staying in their own homes, added with the stress and apprehension of moving to a new home or facility (difficult at ANY age), it's easy to understand the exploding demand for home healthcare.

Dementia

Most of us start worrying about dementia after retirement - and that may be too little, too late. Experts say that if you really want to ward off dementia, you need to start taking care of your brain in your 30s and 40s - or even earlier.

"More and more research is suggesting that lifestyle is very important to your brain's health," says Dr. Paul Nussbaum, a neuropsychologist and an a djunct associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. "If you want to live a long, healthy life, then many of us need to start as early as we can."

So what can you do to beef up your brain - and possibly ward off dementia?  Nussbaum, who recently gave a speech on the topic for the Winter Park ( Fla. ) Health Foundation, offers 20 tips that may help.
1) Join clubs or organizations that need volunteers.  If you start  volunteering now, you won't feel lost and unneeded after you retire.
2) Develop a hobby or two.  Hobbies help you develop a robust brain because you're trying something new and complex.
3) Practise writing with your non-dominant hand several minutes everyday.  This will exercise the opposite side of your brain and fire up those neurons.
4) Take dance lessons. In a study of nearly 500 people, dancing was the only regular physical activity associated with a significant decrease in the incidence of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.  The people who danced three or four times a week showed 76 percent less incidence of dementia than those who danced only once a week or not at all.
5) Need a hobby? Start gardening.  Researchers in New Zealand found that, of 1,000 people, those who gardened regularly were less likely to suffer from dementia!  Not only does gardening reduce stress, but gardeners use their brains to plan gardens; they use visual and spatial reasoning to lay out a garden.
6) Walking daily can reduce the risk of dementia because cardiovascular health is important to maintain blood flow to the brain.  or...Buy a pedometer and walk 10,000 steps a day.
7) Read and write daily. Reading stimulates a wide variety of brain areas that process and store information.  Likewise, writing (not copying) stimulates many areas of the brain as well.
8) Start knitting. Using both hands works both sides of your brain.  And it's a stress reducer.
9) Learn a new language. Whether it's a foreign language or sign language, you are working your brain by making it go back and forth between one language and the other.  A researcher in England found that being bilingual seemed to delay symptoms of Alzheimer's disease for four years.  And some research suggests that the earlier a child learns sign language, the higher his IQ - and people with high IQs are less likely to have dementia. So start them early.
10) Play board games such as Scrabble and Monopoly.  Not only are you taxing your brain, you're socializing too.  Playing solo games, such as solitaire or online computer brain games can be helpful, but Nussbaum prefers games that encourage you to socialize too.
11) Take classes throughout your lifetime.  Learning produces structural and chemical changes in the brain, and education appears to help people live longer.  Brain researchers have found that people with advanced degrees live longer - and if they do have Alzheimer's, it often becomes apparent only in the very later stages of the disease.
12) Listen to classical music.  A growing volume of research suggests that music may hard wire the brain, building links between the two hemispheres. Any kind of music may work, but there's some research that shows positive effects for classical music, though researchers don't understand why.
13) Learn a musical instrument. It may be harder than it was when you were a kid, but you'll be developing a dormant part of your brain.
14) Travel. When you travel (whether it's to a distant vacation spot or on a different route across town), you're forcing your brain to navigate a new and complex environment.  A study of London taxi drivers found experienced drivers had larger brains because they have to store lots of information about locations and how to navigate there.
15) Pray. Daily prayer appears to help your immune system.  And people who attend a formal worship service regularly live longer and report happier, healthier lives.
16) Learn to meditate.  It's important for your brain that you learn to shut out the stresses of everyday life.
17) Get enough sleep. Studies have shown a link between interrupted sleep and dementia.
18) Eat more foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids: Salmon, sardines, tuna, ocean trout, mackerel or herring, plus walnuts (which are higher in omega 3s than salmon) and flaxseed. Flaxseed oil, cod liver oil and walnut oil are good sources too.
19) Eat more fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants in fruits and vegetables mop up some of the damage caused by free radicals, one of the leading killers of brain cells.
20) Eat at least one meal a day with family and friends.  You'll slow down, socialize, and research shows you'll eat healthier food than if you ate alone or on the go.
Doing ALL 20 THINGS LISTED ABOVE AND YOU WILL NOT FIND ENOUGH TIME IN YOUR LIFE TO FIT IN Dementia AS WELL: IN other words, "CONTINUE TO DO ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU ALREADY DO AND YOU WILL HAVE COVERED MOST OF THE THINGS LISTED!"

My Diabetes Cured Using This Traditional Recipe

Then I was 55 years old, one day suddenly I felt constant thirst and
had the urge to drink more water, I also felt constant hunger even
just after taking a meal, my legs often cramp and had severe cold
sweat.  I went for a check up and the doctor diagnosed Diabetes,
sometimes it reached 250 and it worried me so much.  Doctor prescribed
some medication and I was on medication for 2.5 years.

My brother who was staying in Malaysia was very concerned, he was a
successful businessman.  I went to visit my brother and sister when I
was 57 yrs old and my brother told me he was given a traditional
treatment recipe for diabetes which was claimed to be very effective.
As a Hokkien who suffered Diabetes for 25 years previously, he had
complication and was unable to walk, but now he was cured.

Here's the Recipe :

Steam 4 limes (green lime) together with 1 chicken without head and
tail, cut limes into half, add some salts and water level just to
cover the chicken.  I was given this 4 times during my stay in
Malaysia.

The taste was not very good but i still took it in hope of curing the
disease.  It took me 1 week to finish a chicken (1 recipe), sometimes I
drank it as a soup or for supper.

After 2 months I returned to Taiwan and had a medical check up again,
the doctor advised me to stop my Diabetes medication as the blood
sugar plunged to below the standard count.  He couldn't believe it
when I told him what I took.  From then on I did constant blood check
and it was always normal.  So for prevention, sometimes I still had it once
in a while.  Lime was not available in Taiwan at that time and my
brother sent them to me from Malaysia.

I am now 71 years old, and there's no recurrence.   During this time I
have been staying in Canada, the USA and I have been on healthy diet and
take the chicken lime recipe once in a while which saves my life.

As the ingredients are all natural, there's no harm at all to have a
try and please spread this to your friends or whoever needs it.
